Why chess?

More than a game. A head start.

Every Saturday builds three things your child keeps for life.

Strategy

Children learn to think ahead, weigh choices and make a plan, at the board and in the classroom.

Friendship

Saturdays bring kids from different schools and ages together over the same board.

Confidence

Every solved puzzle and every win, and every loss learned from, builds belief.

Puzzle of the week

White to move.
Mate in one?

Every Saturday starts with a puzzle. Try this one at home, then ask your child to explain it to you.

Reveal the answer

1. Re8# — a back-rank mate. Black's own pawns on f7, g7 and h7 trap the king, and nothing can block or capture the rook.

Moments on the board

Little moves, big futures.

Giant boards, tiny pawns and a lot of thinking faces.
