Five Chess Olympiads for Jamaica, the FIDE Master title and a passion for helping young minds grow.
Every Saturday session is led by FIDE Master Malaku Lorne, one of Jamaica's strongest players of the last two decades.
Five Olympiads for Jamaica
Coach Mala has represented Jamaica at the Chess Olympiad five times, from Calvià in 2004 to Chennai in 2022.
A FIDE Master
In 2016 he scored 7 points from 9 at the Sub-Zonal in Barbados and earned the FIDE Master title. The same year he was named Chess Sportsman of the Year at the RJR Sports Foundation awards.
Why he coaches
Chess gave him a lifetime of travel, friendships and hard thinking. The Saturday Programme is his way to pass that on: strategy, friendship and confidence, for a brighter tomorrow.
